BMS threatens to block Assam-Agartala Road from August 1

Dharmanagar July 30: Not receiving pending bills from past 16 months, BMS threatened to organize National Highway blockade from August 1.
The same was announced by North Tripura district BMS Unit amid a press meet on Saturday at the BMS Hall of Dharmanagar Motor stand.
Reportedly, even after 16 months, vehicle owners who had sent vehicles from Tripura to Assam during Assam assembly elections have not received a single bill yet. Despite repeatedly informing the Karimganj district administration on behalf of BMS, nothing has been done yet.
Reportedly, on April 4, 2021 under the direction of Karimganj District Administration and Superintendent of Police many vehicles left Tripura on April 1 whose bills amounting Rs 2 Crore is still outstanding. The district commissioner of Karimganj took 550 LMV vehicles with a rent of Rs 87 lakh 51 thousand and on the orders of the Superintendent of Police 130 buses, 70 trucks and 23 LVMs were taken with an outstanding rent of Rs 88 lakh 55 thousand.
Despite of approaching the Assam administration regarding this fare, a single rupee has not being received yet. Also letters were sent to the Chief Secretary and Chief Minister of Assam, Transport Minister, District Collector of North District as well as Transport Secretary. Protesting this, car owners, drivers and those involved in Assam-Tripura entry line at Churaibari warned to block the Assam-Agartala National Highway No. 8.
District BMS general secretary Biplab Das, district president Subrata Rudra Pal, joint secretary Biswajit Sinha and vice president Prabir Ghosh were present at the press meet.
