Bodhisatwa murder case: Court declares all 4 guilty, sentencing on Sat

Agartala June 02: All the four accused in Bodhisatwa Das murder case were pronounced "guilty" after a hearing on Friday by the district and sessions judge Subhashish Sharma Roy under sections 302 and 34 (common intention).
However, the final sentence for the convicted persons will be declared on Friday, next.
Speaking to the reporters, public prosecutor Samrat Kar Bhowmik said, "Former branch manager in UCB Bank, Dharmanagar branch was attacked with an intention of murder by 4 persons at Jackson gate area of the capital city near Sarada Medical Hall on August 3, 2019. All four accused namely Sumit Choudhary Sumit Banik, Sukanta Biswas and Shoaib Mia were pronounced guilty by the judge after a final hearing on Friday".
"The accusations against all four were proved after a total of 56 witnesses gave evidence at the court", he said.
The public prosecutor further added that Dr Abhijit Das of GB hospital, Agartala who was one of the eyewitnesses denied having heard the final statement of slain Bodhisatwa Das as he breathed his last at the hospital.
Seperate proceedings will be drawn against him on charges of lying to the court, said the public prosecutor.
However, Adv Pijush Kanti Biswas on behalf of the four convicts expressed dissatisfaction over the decision of the court.
Biswas also said that he will file an appeal against the "illegal" judgement of the court in the case.
Meanwhile all eyes are on the sentencing of the court scheduled to be held on Saturday next
