
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel rescued 22 passengers after a vehicle skidded off a slippery road and fell into a gorge in Dhalai district, officials said.
The incident occurred around 0930 hours when a jeep carrying passengers from Jalabasti to Chawmanu lost control and plunged nearly 50 feet off the roadside in the area under Border Outpost (BOP) Jalabasti of 33 Battalion BSF, under Sector Panisagar.
On receiving information, BSF personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation, officials said.
“All passengers were safely extricated from the vehicle,” an official said.
Eleven injured persons, including five women and six men, were evacuated and taken to Chawmanu Hospital for around 1015 hours for treatment, he said.
No fatalities were reported in the incident, officials added. The BSF personnel responded immediately and coordinated the evacuation of the injured passengers to ensure timely medical assistance, they said.
