BSF Tripura hosts Capacity Building Workshop on anti-human trafficking

In a significant step towards strengthening the fight against human trafficking in border regions, the Border Security Force (BSF) Tripura Frontier, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi, organised a Capacity Building Workshop at the 42 Battalion BSF campus in Fatikchhera.

The workshop was chaired by Vijaya Rahatkar, Chairperson of the NCW, and formally inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and felicitation of the dignitaries. Inspector General Princee Rani, IPS, welcomed participants and underscored the importance of equipping BSF personnel with specialised knowledge to tackle trafficking challenges along sensitive border areas.

Two intensive technical sessions conducted by NCW experts covered a wide spectrum of issues: the legal framework, victim identification, rescue and rehabilitation protocols, investigation procedures, and inter‑agency coordination. The sessions also highlighted best practices adopted nationally to combat trafficking networks.

The programme concluded with an Open House Discussion, where participants shared field experiences and engaged directly with experts. This interactive exchange allowed officers to connect theory with practice, ensuring that lessons learned could be applied in real‑world scenarios.

More than 300 BSF personnel from various sectors and units under Tripura Frontier attended the workshop, reflecting the scale of commitment towards building professional capacity.

Officials noted that the initiative reaffirmed BSF’s pledge to protect vulnerable communities and strengthen inter‑agency collaboration. By combining the expertise of the NCW with the operational reach of BSF, the workshop aimed to create a robust framework of prevention, protection, and prosecution against human trafficking in the Northeast.
