Santirbazar July 29: Under the initiative of the Department of Fisheries, fishing nets were distributed to 69 beneficiaries from 14 ADC villages amid a program on Friday.

Rs 3 lakh has been spent from PDF (BAC) fund for this. The prime objective behind such a program is to ensure that the state has a proper supply of fish and that local people can catch fish with nets and market the fish to become financially sustainable.

Bagafa Block BDO Dhritisekhar Roy, Bagafa Block BAC Chairman, former Deputy Speaker Gourishankar Reang, Bagafa Block Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sridam Das, Santirbazar Division Fisheries Department Officer Watson Reang and other guests remained present in the event.
