The NIUS (National Institute of Urban Affairs) under the CITIIS (Cities Investment to Innovate, Integrate and Sustain) programme is organising a photography competition "Cities of Tomorrow" with an aim of depicting the impacts of sustainable and innovation-driven urban development in India through the lens of the citizens.
District Magistrate, West Tripura Dr.Debapriya Bardhan announced the photography competition in a press conference on Monday.
CITIIS is a joint program of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the French Development Agency (AFD), the European Union (EU), and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA).
He said, the programme is covering 12 cities selected through a challenge process, develop and implement sustainable and innovation-driven urban infrastructure projects.
Agartala Smart City Limited was selected in the CITIIS Challenge for its Haora River Front Development Project. This project has been categorised under the CITIIS focus area i.e. Public Open Space Category, which is also one of the themes for the Cities of Tomorrow competition, he told the reporters.
The Agartala Smart City invited entries from Agartala city on the basis of the theme. The entries will be judged by a panel comprising renowned photographers Raghu Rai, Ketaki Sheth and Sounak Banerjee.
The winner of the first prize will be given Rs. 50,000. The second and third prize winner will get Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively. The winning entries will also be displayed at a public exhibition at the India Habitat Center, New Delhi in October 2022.
