Civil Disobedience: Cong slams BJP for being anti-youth

Agartala Aug 05: Newly elected Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Friday said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is against the interest of the youth which is looking very depressed about its future.
He said, “The days of sitting idle in the house has passed now. Our backs are on the wall already. This is the time to come out of our homes and build a strong protest against the ruling party. The prices of essential commodities are rising every day while thousands of posts are lying vacant in the government departments and we are yet to see any positive step from the end of the state government to address these issues”.
Slamming the state government for gradually shrinking job market, he said, “The ruling party keeps harping on self reliance and make tall claims of easy loans. The reality is starkly opposite to what is told. The banks are not giving loans based on the business idea. Whenever someone approaches the bank they were asked to submit papers of their properties.”
He said, this gap between aspirations and reality is giving birth to depression and inclination towards addictive substances. “Tripura is among the leading states that report highest numbers of suicide cases. And, drugs have already raised its ugly head in the state. Even school students now have access to drugs. Thousands of my state’s youth have fallen prey to the vicious cycle of drugs and lost their lives. And, the government has blatantly failed in preventing drugs as well. Even for treatment of such patients, people have to rely on private facilities across. The government should ashamed of itself”, said Barman.
Barman was speaking at the civil disobedience movement organized by Congress against party at Agartala. Senior Congress leaders led a rally with the motive to gherao the Raj Bhavan but the security forces successfully stopped the rally at Kunjaban.
A short street corner was organized before end of the event.
