Tripura University will organise a series of programmes on October 2 to mark its foundation day, with the university administration focusing on academic development, research, environmental awareness and institutional collaboration.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has consented to attend the programme as the chief guest, while university Chancellor Ahmed Javed is scheduled to preside over the event.

Established on October 2, 1987, Tripura University is now a Central University. The foundation day programme is being organised under the initiative of Vice-Chancellor Professor Debabrata Das.

As part of the celebrations, the university plans to organise tree plantation and cleanliness drives and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

The main programme will include hoisting of the national flag and the proposed signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with several educational and professional institutions. The proposed agreements are aimed at strengthening cooperation in education and research and promoting institutional exchanges.

Representatives of educational institutions and organisations are expected to attend the programme. The proposed collaborations are expected to facilitate academic engagement, research activities and exchanges between institutions.

The university also plans to felicitate teachers and other contributors for their role in its academic and institutional development. A cultural programme will also be organised, with students, teachers, researchers and non-teaching employees expected to participate.

The administration has linked the foundation day activities to priorities including academic standards, research and innovation, environmental responsibility and engagement with society.

The programme will combine ceremonial activities marking the university's institutional journey with initiatives focused on environmental awareness and institutional cooperation.
