Agartala Jan 13: Taking a jibe over the BJP-led state government in Tripura, All Tripura School Computer Sikshak Shangha raised question over development in Computer education in the state for past 15 years.
Addressing the press amid a press conference at Agartala Press Club here on Thursday, the leaders of the organization said, “Although the present government has re-introduced computer education in the schools that were closed during the Left regime, but it is still run by 3rd party. Following which no development could be seen in these 15 years from 2008-2023”.
“Delegation of ATSCTS have repeatedly placed deputations to all the District Education Officers in eight districts of the state. But despite of assurances nothing has been done so far to solve the issue”, said Subhankar Roy.
Placing the three major demands for immediate consideration, the members of ATSCTS said, “Computer education must be introduced as a compulsory subject in all state government schools under ICT and students must be provided with proper education materials including books as e-content is not sufficient for proper learning”.
They further proposed the state government to directly manage the computer education sector under its own supervision without engaging any third party for the same.
“This would ensure certainty of the instructors and they can provide better labour to the students”, said the ATSCTS members.
Pointing out the present state government’s claims of “Equal pay for equal work”, Subhankar Roy said, “We too work like other subject teachers in the state government schools, but our salaries are merely Rs 10,000 that is not at all sufficient to run the family”.
Hoping that the present government would respond positively, the ATSCTS demanded the state government to immediately take over the ICT project under own supervision and engage all the 604 Computer teachers directly under the state education department.
ATSCTS president Bhabesh Chakraborty, General secretary Narayan Rana among others remained present at the press conference.
