Congress celebrates Quit India Movement Day

Agartala Aug 09: Tripura Pradesh Congress celebrated Quit India Movement Day on Tuesday.
The program started with hoisting of National Flag at Agartala Congress Bhavan and the leaders paid floral tribute to the martyrs.
Later the Congress leaders laid wreath at the Marty’s altar in Gandhi Ghat to mark the Quit India Movement Day.
Speaking to the reporters, Former TPCC president Gopal Roy said, the resolution of Quit India movement was passed on August 8 1942 at the Mumbai session of AICC. The “Bharat Chhodo Andolan”, had begun under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi who came up with the slogan “Do or Die”.
Roy added, the Congress had fought to its last breath to uproot the British rule and make India free.
