Addressing the reporters on the occasion, former TPCC president Gopal Roy said 21st century India cannot be imagined without his tremendous contribution.
Lambasting the ruling BJP, Gopal Roy said, “Just because of political differences, the BJP has not taken any initiative to celebrate the birth anniversary of India’s first PM who is the maker of modern India”.
Roy further took a dig over the saffron party adding, “Law and order has collapsed in the state and democracy has come to a standstill under the BJP’s mis-governance, it’s not ‘Sushashan’ but ‘Kushashan’ in the state”.
Several party leaders and activists paid glowing tributes to the Congress stalwart.
Born in 1889, Nehru remains India’s longest-serving Prime Minister between August 1947 and May 1964.
