Agartala Oct 31: Tripura Pradesh Congress on Monday paid floral tributes to the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary, with leaders saying they are carrying her love and values in their heart and will not allow the India for which she sacrificed her life fall apart.
Senior Congress leader and former MLA Gopal Chandra Roy expressed hope that the Congress will form government in Tripura in the upcoming 2023 assembly elections following the path shown by Nehru, Rajiv and Indira Gandhi.
The death anniversary of the late former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi was celebrated with due dignity under the initiative of Pradesh Congress across the state.
On this day, former chief minister and veteran Congress leader Sameer Ranjan Barman, former MLA Gopal Chandra Roy and others hoisted the national and party flags.
After that, the party leaders and workers paid tribute by garlanding the portrait of the former prime minister.
Talking to the reporters, Gopal Roy criticized the BJP government at both the state and Centre on various issues.
Referring to Tripura, Gopal Chandra Roy said that this government is doing various anti-social activities. He alleged that women are not safe in the state; the rights of unemployed are also not protected.
The former MLA and senior Congress leader Gopal Roy alleged that the BJP has not fulfilled any of its promises made to the people before the 2018 assembly elections.
He further said Congress will form the government in Tripura in 2023 polls following the ideologies of the great leaders like Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi.
Later in a joining program in front of the Congress Bhavan Agartala, around 49 voters joined the Congress leaving other political parties.
