Congress stages protest in Khowai, organizes joining program

Khowai Nov 02: A sit-in protest was organized at Ramchandraghat Bazar under Khowai Sub-Division on Wednesday under the initiative of Khowai Ramchandraghat Block Congress, on the basis of nine-point demands including establishment of rule of law in the state, check on increasing violence against women, increase in wages under REGA and many more.
Teliamura District Congress Committee President Bikramjit Sinha led the protest. Besides, Women Leader Shikha Dev, Ramchandraghat Block Congress Committee president Pradip Das, Congress leader Pradyut Bhattacharjee and other leaders were present at the protest program.
Speaking at the program, Congress leaders said that there is no rule of law in the state.
Most of the promises made by the BJP before 2018 assembly election have not been fulfilled and instead people have been looted in many ways.
“People of the state have realized their mistake after being subjected to several atrocities and are now ready to give a worthy answer in the upcoming 2023 election”, added Congress.
Later, around 20 voters from 4 families left the ruling party and joined the Congress.
Meanwhile, around 312 voters from 69 families joined Congress in Kamalasagar Assembly constituency by accepting party flags from former MLA Ashish Kumar Saha.
