Agartala/Kumarghat Jan 27: A total of 38 CPI-M candidates on Friday filed their nominations in respective assembly constituencies in a bid to contest the much crucial 2023 Tripura assembly polls slated to be held on February 16 next.
The nomination submission procedure was held with huge enthusiasm of party activists and supporters who marched through different routes sloganeering in support of the part candidates.
The Left Front on Wednesday last was the first political party to announce the list of candidates for 46 assembly constituencies out of 60 seats in Tripura Assembly, leaving 13 seats for the Congress.
43 total seats will be contested by CPI-M while other Left partners- CPI, RSP, Forward Bloc will field one candidate each. Also, the Left Front has left one seat for Independent aspirant Puroshottam Roy Barman, an advocate and human rights activists of Tripura.
With Left Front’s poll manifesto, plans and visions for the state to be released yet, majority of the candidates filed their nominations on Friday.
In an exclusive conversation of Tripura Times with CPI-M State Secretary Jiten Choudhury, he said, “Because of certain paper work issues candidates in few assembly constituencies like Asharambari, Kalyanpur, Khowai etc have not filed their nominations today. They will do the same by January 30”.
Talking about nomination submission of 3 candidates of other Left partners Choudhury said, “After finalization of candidates, they will also file the nomination”.
The CCPI-M State Secretary further added, “The seat sharing with Congress was finalized earlier and no changes will be made in that”.
Our Agartala Correspondent adds: Ramu Das, CPI-M candidate of 13 Pratapgarh Assembly Constituency and Sudip Sarkar, CPI-M candidate of 4 Barajala Assembly Constituency filed their nominations on Friday backed by a grand rally of CPI-M leaders, workers and supporters.
Our Kumarghat Correspondent adds: CPI-M Candidate Samiran Malakar of 50 Pabiachara constituency under Kumarghat sub-division and Subrata Das, CPI-M candidate for Fatikroy constituency filed their nomination papers on Friday.
The candidates were accompanied by Left Front leaders including former MLAs Bijay Roy and Tunu Bala Malakar and divisional secretary Mintu Das.
