Kalyanpur Sept 22: CPI-M held massive rally in Kalyanpur after almost four and a half years on Thursday demanding restoration of democracy, protection of Indian Constitution and various issues related to public interest.
The procession walked from the Kalyanpur party office to the Sonartari Mukta Manch with huge number of CPI-M activists and supporters.
Senior CPIM leader Pavitra Kar, CPI-M Khowai district committee secretary Ranjit Debbarma, CPI-M Teliamura sub-committee secretary Hemanta Kumar Jamatia, farmer leader Subhash Nath, public leaders Gayatri Dutta and others remained present in the rally.
At the end, CPIM leader Pavitra Kar and former MLA Monindra Chandra Das addressed the party supporters and activists in front of the Sonartari Mukta Mancha.
Strict security arrangements were made by Kalyanpur police station. Kalyanpur police station OC Udyam Debbarma led the police and TSR force.
The chief speaker of the meeting, Pabitra Kar said, there was an almost undeclared ban on holding procession and meetings in the area for more than four years under BJP governance.
Talking about the current situation of the state, Kar said, “The roads are in miserable condition, there is no water, the farmers have no crops, the fields are empty, there is no fertilizer, there is no seed, there is no water for irrigation and there is no irrigation work. There is a school, but no teacher. Students are forced to block the national highway. Protests against the anti-people policies of the present government are taking place at every place with risk”.
CPI-M leaders added, in the last four and a half years no party office could be opened in Kalyanpur besides, there were attacks on party workers.
A lot of enthusiasm was observed among the supporters and activists centering the day’s rally.
