Agartala, April 02: The opposition CPI(M) party, Sunday alleged of ‘unstoppable’ post poll violence across the state and held the ruling BJP party responsible for the incidents.
Addressing a press conference here at the party headquarter on Sunday evening, the party’s state secretary Jitendra Choudhury alleged, “The ruling BJP party kicked off its post poll violence since after the declaration of the election result here in the state, where the innocent families from many parts of the state were attacked and looted.”
Choudhury on Sunday briefed the media to cite instances of some incident of post poll violence in three assembly constituencies of Fatikroy, Kamalpur, Pabiacherra and Barjala. He alleged, “I paid a visit to the three constituencies during the past three days and found that many innocent families fell victim to the incidents of post poll violence instigated by the BJP goons.”
“Some outsiders led by the brother of BJP minister Sudhangsu Das entered into a Bishnupriya Manipuri village at Fatikray assembly constituency under the Kailasahar and Kumarghat sub-division in Unakoti district and looted houses and shops and also molested Manipuri women in the village. Similar incidents took place at Kamalpur which happens to be the assembly constituency of former minister Manoj Kanti Deb, at Pabiacherra and also at Barjala assembly constituency,” he alleged.
Choudhury expressed his concern over the role of the police in view of the alleged incident of violence in the three assembly constituencies of the state and said, “Shockingly in all the incidents, police failed to arrest the main culprits rather they managed to lift the innocent people from their house in connection with those incidents and registered case against them falsely.”
The party leader continued lambasting the BJP party and said, “The BJP has failed to take lessons from this election where the party was dragged down from 50% to 39 % vote share.”
Choudhury mentioned about the report of a fact finding team of MPs, who visited the state after the declaration of the poll result and said, “The BJP has adopted a culture, where even the High Court’s orders are also being neglected and avoided. After the visit of the fact finding team of MPs in Tripura, the HC ordered the state government to stop post poll violence, but nothing happened and the BJP continued unleashing violence across the state.”
On the other hand, the party’s state secretary on Sunday also demanded the speaker of the state legislative assembly to take disciplinary action against the BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath, who was caught recently watching porn clip inside the assembly house during a session. He said, “An ethics committee member Ashok Mitra on March 31 last wrote to the speaker and demanded disciplinary action against BJP MLA Jadab Lal Nath.”
