Built in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, believed to be the place where Sati’s right foot fell, and it is built on a hillock shaped like a tortoise.

Gupta will proceed to Tripura after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam on Tuesday.
Â
Before the ceremony in Guwahati, she will offer prayers and seek blessings at the Kamakhya Temple.
