Delhi CM Rekha Gupta to visit Tripura on May 13

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will visit Tripura on May 13 to offer prayers at the Tripura Sundari Temple in the state, officials said.

The Tripura Sundari Temple, popularly known as Matabari, is a renowned Hindu shrine in Udaipur, 55 km from Agartala, dedicated to Goddess Tripureshwari. Built in 1501 by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya, it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, believed to be the place where Sati’s right foot fell, and it is built on a hillock shaped like a tortoise.

Gupta will proceed to Tripura after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led BJP government in Assam on Tuesday.

Before the ceremony in Guwahati, she will offer prayers and seek blessings at the Kamakhya Temple.

Sarma was on Sunday unanimously elected as the leader of the BJP-led NDA legislature party in the state. He will be sworn in at a ceremony in Guwahati on May 12.
