Agartala May 29: Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman on Monday placed a deputation to the Chairman TPSC (Tripura Public Service Commission) demanding mandatory provision of PRTC, Local languages Kokborok and Bengali to be inducted as eligibility criteria in all examinations conducted under TPSC.
The Congress MLA cited irregularities in a recent job notification published on behalf of the TPSC for recruitment to the post of Agricultural Officer.
The letter addressed to the Chairman, TPSC read, “I would like to point out the gross irregularity in your Advt. No. 18/2022 for recruitment to the post of Agriculture Officer, TAFS, Gr-1, Group-B, Gazette under the department of Agriculture and Farmer's Welfare, Govt. of Tripura in the scale of Pay of Rs. 10,230-34,800/- with GP Rs. 4,800/- and pay level 13 of Tripura State Pay Matrix, 2018”.
“I am amused by the fact that the provision of PRTC with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok has not been provided/published as an eligibility criterion”, it read further.
However, in Advt. No. 02/2023 for the post of Veterinary Officer (TVS, Gr- V) (Group-B, Gazette), in the same scale of pay with that of Agriculture Officer, TPSC has provided the eligibility of PRTC with knowledge of Bengali or Kokborok, said Roy Barman.
Sudip further added, “The mistake was brought to the knowledge of the secretary TPSV on Jan 20, 2023 by a candidate but the mistake was not amended”.
MLA Sudip Roy Barman also said, “Chairman TPSC Alind Rastogi informed that TPSC itself doesn’t make rules and the same are prepared by various departments according to requirements”.
Talking about the mandatory criteria of PRTC, Roy Barman said, “In the entire country there is no state where unemployed from outside state are allowed to appear for Group C Group D posts. And the same must be mandatory recruitment rule for Tripura as well”.
He however said that the Chairman assured to talk about the issue of conflicting job notification with the concerned authorities.
Former MLA and senior Congress leader Asish Kumar Saha accompanied Sudip Roy Barman at the day’s deputation.
