
The Loknath Ashram in Agartala became a hub of devotion and spirituality on Wednesday as thousands of worshippers gathered to mark the 136th Tirodhan Day of Loknath Brahmachari.Â

From the break of dawn, the ashram courtyard was filled with devotees participating in religious ceremonies. The day began with the offering of Balya Bhog, followed by special puja, nam sankirtan, and anjali. By midday, the atmosphere grew even more vibrant as Mahaprasad distribution commenced, drawing long queues of worshippers eager to partake in the sacred meal.

Loknath Brahmachari, born in 1730 in Kachua village of present-day North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, dedicated his life to spiritual practice, service, and the welfare of humanity. His immortal assurance — “In times of danger, whether in battle, forest, water or wilderness, remember me and I shall protect you” — continues to resonate deeply with millions of followers across India and abroad.

He attained Mahasamadhi on 19 Jaistha, 1890, a date now observed annually as Tirodhan Day. The occasion is marked not only in Tripura but also in temples and ashrams worldwide, with special prayers, charitable activities, and community services organized to honor his legacy.
