Dol Purnima celebrations begin at Ram Thakur temple Teliamura

Religious fervour marked the beginning of Dol Purnima celebrations at the Ram Thakur Seva Mandir in Teliamura.

The festivities commence at the Sri Sri Ram Thakur Temple with rituals centred around the ceremonial ‘adhivas’ of the deity. The temple premises were illuminated and witnessed devotional singing and the participation of a large number of devotees.
As dusk set in, a colourful procession was taken out as part of the traditional ‘Ganga ahwan’ ritual. Devotees, including children carrying lighted candles and earthen lamps, marched from the temple complex to Dashami Ghat. The procession moved through the town amid devotional songs and chants.

At the ghat, rituals were performed on the banks of the Khowai river, and holy water was collected before the procession returned to the temple.

Local organisers said Dol Purnima is observed not only as a festival of colours but also as a spiritually significant occasion. The participation of children added to the solemnity and enthusiasm of the event, they said.

Members of the temple committee informed that special Puja, distribution of prasad and an ‘Ashta Prahar Harinam Sankirtan’ have been scheduled for Monday, coinciding with the full-moon day.

Devotees from different parts of Teliamura gathered at the temple to take part in the celebrations. Local administration officials maintained vigil to ensure that the programme was conducted peacefully.
