Donation Boxes at Tripureshwari Temple opened after 1 month 20 days, Foreign Currency found among offerings

The historic Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur witnessed a significant event on Friday as its 17 donation boxes and chests were reopened after a gap of one month and twenty days, with counting of offerings carried out under strict administrative supervision throughout the day.

The exercise began in the morning within the temple courtyard and continued until evening, overseen by an 18-member special team formed by the Gomati District Magistrate’s office. Security was tightened to ensure transparency and smooth completion of the process.

Deputy Collector Chandrashekhar Chattopadhyay confirmed that alongside Indian currency, the boxes contained foreign notes and coins from countries including the United States, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bangladesh. Officials said the presence of international currency reflects the temple’s growing appeal among foreign tourists and pilgrims, in addition to its traditional base of domestic devotees.

Authorities noted that offerings are no longer limited to cash. With the introduction of bank QR codes, devotees are increasingly contributing digitally, adding a new dimension to the temple’s donation system.

Temple officials described the offerings as a reflection of the faith and devotion of devotees, both local and international. They said the reopening of the boxes not only highlights the temple’s spiritual importance but also its role as a cultural and tourism hub.

The district administration emphasised that the counting process was conducted in a fair and transparent manner, with strict monitoring to maintain order. The reopening of the boxes has once again drawn attention to the temple’s stature as one of Tripura’s most revered religious sites.
