The HS result declared by Tripura Board of Secondary Education brought double delight for a family of Jampuijala as two members of the family cleared the boards altogether.
Dulu Miah, the principal bread earner of the family cleared the exams along with his daughter Ruma Akhter leading to joyous celebrations in the area.Â
Dulu Miah, an ex-teacher, lost his permanent government job due to a Supreme Court order in 2020. Speaking to media persons, Miah said that he had decided to appear in the exams with his daughter after being insisted by her.
“In the year 1997, I passed the Madhyamik exams. In 1999, I appeared for HS exams but couldn’t secure the passing marks. For the next 12 years, I gave tuitions to children of my area before getting a job as undergraduate teacher in 2014. But, in 2020 I was terminated from service,” Miah recalled.Â
He was among the 10,323 teachers who lost their job due to legal complications associated with the recruitment rules.
According to Miah, he thought about appearing in the board exams since he could prepare with his daughter. “I studied the notes and study materials that my daughter collected. She scored more than 50 percent and I was also able to score 45 percent. I hope our story will inspire others as well. My daughter will definitely pursue higher education and I am also considering taking admission in college,” he said.Â
Miah’s wife was also very happy at the performance of her husband and daughter. Â
According to Miah, learning has no age limit. “There should be no age limit on acquiring knowledge. If there is an opportunity, it should be utilised for sure,” said Miah.    Â
Both of them enrolled for the exams from Pramodnagar School in Jampuijala under Sepahijala district of Tripura.
