Agartala, Aug 09: The Deprived Returnee Movement Committee (DRMC) and Joint Action Committee (JAC) on Tuesday announced that they would jointly launch road blockade on Assam- Agartala highway on August 19 for an indefinite period.
Addressing a press conference at Agartala Press Club, general secretary of JMRC Amrit Reang said they decided to stage the road blockade at Chandra Sadhu Para in Champaknagar.
He alleged that they held meetings with the Janajati Welfare minister for two times and their nine-point charter of demands were positively accepted by the government.
But, there is no effective step to fulfill the demands so far; the probability of fulfilling the demands before election would also turn zero if the demands are not fulfilled soon.
“We are giving time and requesting the government to fulfill the demands soon since we have already planned to launch the road blockade from August 19 for an indefinite period,” he told the reporters.
The demands include PMAY housing benefit and rehabilitation, he added.
