Kalyanpur Sept 20: Acting on a tip- off, police of Kalyanpur police station led by OC Tapash Malakar and Sub-Inspector Premjit Roy detained a person associated with drug peddling for a long time.

Briefing the reporters in this context, OC Tapash Malakar said, “The detained named as Dhanraj Sarkar around 26 years of age was arrested from Moharchara bridge by police who acted upon specific information received from secret sources”.

“Narcotic items like brown sugar and heroin weighing 5,23 gm were seized from his possession in Ghilatali’s Santipara area”, he said.

Allegedly, the detained youth sell drugs for a long time and also owns numerous properties these days. However, as police could not find large amounts of drugs from his possession, it is believed that stash of illegal drugs is elsewhere.

“We have taken up a case under specific sections of NDPS Act and will interrogate the arrested person for further details”, said police.
