Efforts underway to strengthen cooperatives: Shukla

Cooperative Department Minister Shukla Charan Noatia on Friday said that multiple efforts had been undertaken to strengthen cooperative societies across the state.

“The four-day Cooperative Society Fair and Festival was organised this year with wide public participation at Purbasha complex for the first time. It has highlighted the expanding strength and outreach of the cooperative movement in Tripura. The event featured a range of unique initiatives designed to promote rural development, enhance marketing opportunities and showcase the work of various cooperative societies,” he added.

Interacting with media persons during the Annual General Meeting of Tripura MARKFED in Agartala, Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia said cooperative societies across the state were being strengthened through consistent monitoring and active engagement. He said lakhs of people in Tripura were associated with the cooperative sector, which continued to serve as a key pillar of rural economic advancement.

Noatia said the department was conducting review meetings every two months to improve performance, strengthen marketing and ensure positive functioning of societies. Public outreach events such as the Purbasha fair, he added, had helped bring cooperative activities closer to citizens while expanding market access for rural producers.

The Minister said the cooperative movement was rooted in collective effort and shared prosperity, and the government intended to further expand opportunities for cooperatives to contribute to Tripura’s development.
