Eight more Rohingyas held in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 05: Tripura is gradually becoming a safe corridor for the Rohingya movement.
Two days after the arrests of seven Rohingyas from Ambassa, eight more Rohingyas including three children were arrested from Agartala railway station on Saturday.
They were found roaming suspiciously in front of the main entrance of the railway station, according to police.
During preliminary interrogation, police came to know that they fled away from the Rohingya camp in Bangladesh and illegally crossed the border.
They reached Tripura by an agent for going to Delhi. The agent went to bring tiffin, leaving them near the station and didn’t return.
During the search, UNHCR cards were found with them but they had failed to produce valid passports, a GRP officer told reporters.
Despite strong surveillance by police and other security agencies, the increasing movement of Rohingyas in the state is posing a threat.
