Every generation must protect freedom: Tripura Forest Minister 

Science, Technology and Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma on Saturday unfurled the national flag at the district’s official Independence Day programme, declaring that safeguarding India’s freedom is the responsibility of every generation. 

“Our generations must take up the duty of protecting independence. A fearless life is itself a part of freedom,” the Minister said in his address at the Khowai Airport ground.

The ceremony, held with solemnity and dignity to mark the 80th year of India’s independence, brought together senior officials including District Magistrate Rajat Pant, Superintendent of Police Jagadishwar Reddy, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nirmal Kumar Jha, legislators, public representatives and officers from various departments.

Members of the Tripura State Rifles, Tripura Police, Women Police, NSS and other groups participated in the parade, adding grandeur to the occasion. Following the flag-hoisting, the Minister and dignitaries paid homage to freedom fighters and martyrs whose sacrifices laid the foundation of independent India.

The programme also featured spirited cultural performances by local artists, with solo and group dances themed on patriotism. Their presentations infused the air with emotion and pride, turning the Khowai Airport ground into a vibrant stage of national celebration.

The Minister extended greetings to the people of Tripura and the nation, reminding that independence is not merely an annual observance but a legacy of sacrifice and struggle. He urged citizens to carry forward that legacy by strengthening unity, peace and democratic values while contributing to the progress of both state and country.

From the ceremonial parade to the cultural performances, the day’s events reflected reverence for the national flag and a collective resolve to uphold the dignity of freedom.
