Financial Awareness drive held at Agartala's Muktadhara Auditorium

A major awareness programme focusing on financial inclusion, flagship government schemes, cybercrime prevention, and small savings was conducted today at the Muktadhara Auditorium, drawing wide participation from officials, agents, and the public.

 

The event was spearheaded by the State Finance Directorate in collaboration with the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office. It was formally inaugurated by Biswajit Shil, Sabhadhipati of Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad, who lauded the contribution of small savings agents in mobilizing funds and urged them to spread awareness about government initiatives.

 

As part of the programme, eight SAS agents and eight MPKBY agents from different districts were felicitated for their outstanding performance. Awards and mementos were handed over by Shil and other dignitaries.

 

During the programme, officials announced that Tripura has set a target of Rs 1,100 crore under small savings schemes for the 2025–26 financial year. By December 2025, collections had already reached Rs 889.19 crore, contributed by 2,189 MPKBY agents and 1,972 SAS agents across the state.

 

Among the top performers, Montosh Kumar Deb of West Tripura led with Rs 70.50 crore, followed by Sribas Roy of Gomati district with Rs 30.50 crore, and Pratima Chakraborty of South Tripura with Rs 14.89 crore.

 

The session featured multiple expert addresses including Rakhi Biswas, Director of the Small Savings Department, delivered the welcome note. Manik Lal Das, Superintendent of Agartala Head Post Office, explained postal savings schemes. Inspector Titon Pal from Agartala Cyber Crime Branch highlighted cybercrime risks and preventive measures. Meanwhile, Amila Reang, Joint Director of the Small Savings Department, offered the vote of thanks.
