Agartala, April 16: Wife of a deceased government employee on Sunday lodged an FIR against a women police officer of the East Agartala Women Police Station and another women government employee over the death of her husband.
The deceased identified as Prabir Lodh was serving as UDC from Sadar SDM office and he died by allegedly committing suicide on April 13 last.
According to the advocate Raghunath Mukherjee, who accompanied the family of the deceased for lodging the FIR on Sunday, the women police officer Moushumi Debbarma on receiving written complaint from one Ashalata Debbarma, who happens to be a colleague of the deceased employee, harassed the Prabir Lodh on April 12 last by calling him in the police station in the name of interrogation.
The employee – Ashalata Debbarma complained of molestation against her colleague Prabir Lodh on April 12 last.
Based on the written complaint the women police officer Moushumi Debbarma accompanied by her colleagues in the police station harassed Prabir Lodh and tortured him mentally, advocate Raghunath Mukherjee alleged, adding that Prabir Lodh was made to sit in the police station for long hours without registering case against him.
He further said that on his intervention the police later released Prabir Lodh on April 12 night and asked his presence in the police station on the next day i.e. on April 13 to mutualize the matter.
The advocate also accused the women police officer Moushumi Debbarma of harassing the wife of Prabir Lodh by uttering filthy language and that happened while the wife reached the police station on April 12 to take back her husband Prabir Lodh from the police station.
He however informed that out of frustration and mental torture against him, Prabir Lodh committed suicide on the morning hours of April 13 inside the toilet of his residence last and most shockingly soon after his death, FIR was lodged against the deceased Prabir Lodh with the women police station.
FIR was lodged with the police station against the women police officer Moushumi Debbarma and employee Ashalata Debbarma for mentally torturing Prabir Lodh and for blackmailing him over phone, he said, adding that the family of the deceased Prabir Lodh will also file two separate petition with the High Court seeking dismissal of the police officer and action against the employee Ashalata Debbarma.
