A major fire broke out early Monday morning in the Champamura area under Bishalgarh subdivision, causing panic among residents. The blaze originated at the residence of Arvind Bhattacharjee, reportedly due to an electrical short circuit.
Â
According to eyewitnesses, family members first noticed the flames and raised an alarm, prompting neighbours to rush to the spot. The incident was immediately reported to the Bishalgarh and Badharghat Fire Brigade, who dispatched two fire engines to the site.
Â
Officials said the fire spread rapidly as large quantities of rubber stock were stored inside the house, intensifying the flames. After sustained efforts, firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading further.
Â
Police from Bishalgarh Police Station also reached the scene to assess the situation and assist in maintaining order. No casualties were reported, though property damage is believed to be significant.
Â
However, residents expressed relief at the swift response of the fire service personnel, whose timely intervention averted a larger disaster.
