In a bid to make this year’s Durga Puja celebrations more vibrant and inclusive, the district administration of Unakoti is preparing to host the first‑ever Puja Carnival in Kailashahar.
The initiative aims to showcase the joy, tradition, and harmony of the festival in a grand, organized manner, said Minister Tinku Roy.
A crucial preparatory meeting was held on Saturday at the Unakoti District Magistrate’s office, chaired by the Social Welfare and Social Education Minister. The meeting brought together senior district officials, club representatives, and members of various Puja committees to finalize arrangements for the upcoming carnival.
Speaking after the meeting, Minister Roy emphasized that the carnival must be conducted in a smooth, safe, and successful manner. He highlighted the importance of coordination among all departments to ensure proper management, security, and seamless execution of the event. “This carnival is not just about celebration—it is about strengthening social harmony and presenting Durga Puja as a collective cultural expression,” he said.
Discussions focused on: Overall planning and logistics to accommodate large crowds; Security arrangements to ensure public safety; Inter‑departmental coordination for smooth conduct of the carnival; Engagement of clubs and Puja committees to bring community participation to the forefront, among others.
DM Megha Jain along with senior officials of various line departments remained present at the meeting.
