Agartala, Oct 31: The Forest department is working for financial growth of the state by utilizing the forest resources, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) K.S. Sethi said on Monday.

Addressing a press conference at the civil secretariat, he said, the Forest department is implementing various initiatives for afforestation and conservation of the wild animals.

According to the PCCF, there is a huge possibility of increasing the revenue by utilizing the forest resources and the department is working to unlock the potential for achieving economic growth.

He said, the total area of forests is 7721.52 Sq. km, which is 73.64 percent of the total size of the state. Eight Forest districts, 17 sub-divisions, 4 sanctuaries, 59 Forest Ranges and 283 Forest Beats are there in the state.

Speaking to the media, he also elaborated the major initiatives and achievements of the Forest department.

Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) K. Sashikumar was also present in the press conference.
