Former minister Manik Dey alleges of acute crisis in Majlishpur constituency

Agartala, Aug 03: The former minister of the previous Left front government Manik Dey on Wednesday alleged of an acute crisis in Majlishpur assembly constituency of Jirania sub-division and sought government’s intervention to meet the crisis.
Dey accompanied by the leaders of the CPI-M party met in deputation with the SDM of Jirania and complained that a large part of Majlishpur constituency is reeling under water crisis as the existing water sources were left out of order.
Dey alleged, “The Majlishpur constituency is reeling under acute crisis of water, proper roads, jobs, etc. We met with the SDM and demanded the government to take necessary initiatives of carrying out maintenance of the roads which were left in dilapidated condition. We urged the government to finish the maintenance work before the Puja.”
“The constituency is also reeling under crisis of jobs under the REGA and TUEP schemes. We demanded to initiate works under these schemes. We also demanded to generate at least 200 mandays under the REGA scheme and increase social pension to Rs. 2000 along with the resumption of social pension for those whose names were removed,” Dey told reporters.
He also alleged a crisis in the hospitals of the constituency and demanded the government to deploy an adequate number of doctors and ensure adequate stock of medicines in the hospitals.
Similar programmes were organized in other parts of the state, where the CPI-M MLAs met in deputation with the concerned SDMs to press for the demand of mainly hiking mandays under the REGA scheme and social pension of Rs. 2000.
