Former MP Rebati Tripura donates blood; Minister Tinku Roy praises humanitarian spirit

The highlight of Sunday’s programme at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel was the voluntary blood donation by former MP Rebati Tripura, who set an example of service during the Raksha Bandhan festival and blood donation camp organised by the OPEN NSS Tripura unit.

His gesture drew appreciation from dignitaries and participants, underscoring the spirit of giving that marked the day’s events.

The programme combined the cultural celebration of Raksha Bandhan with a humanitarian initiative, drawing youth volunteers, community members, and leaders. 

Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Tinku Roy attended the event and lauded the organisers, saying, “The sacred bond of Rakhi spreads harmony, love, and brotherhood. Coupled with the noble act of voluntary blood donation, this initiative is truly commendable.”

The atmosphere was festive yet purposeful, with Raksha Bandhan rituals symbolising unity and the blood donation drive reinforcing the importance of social responsibility. 

Organisers from the NSS Tripura unit said the event was designed to inspire young people to embrace both tradition and civic duty. They pledged to continue supporting such initiatives that promote harmony and welfare in society.
