Four Tripura students meet President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Raksha Bandhan
Four students from Netaji Nagar English Medium SB School in West Tripura district, accompanied by two teachers and a School Education Department official, met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan here on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Friday.
The students — Meheresia Sarkar of Class V and Amit Kumar Sarkar, Rike Deb and Pratik Sarkar of Class VI — were part of the Tripura team led by School Education Department OSD Abhijit Samajpati. Teachers Biswajit Bhowmik and Biplab Kumar Deb accompanied the students.
The team presented the President with a replica of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple made of bamboo, handmade rakhis, greeting cards and a pencil sketch of President Murmu drawn by Pralay De, a student with special needs from Udaipur.
During the interaction, President Murmu asked the students about Tripura and requested them to perform a song. The students performed the song before the President.
According to the organisers, the President appreciated the rakhis prepared by the students. She also tied a rakhi on Meheresia Sarkar, according to the account shared by the Tripura team.
The students also presented a traditional Risha along with the other items, showcasing elements of Tripura's culture and traditions.
The meeting and group photograph with the President marked the students' participation in the Raksha Bandhan programme at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Tripura team said the students had prepared the rakhis and greeting cards themselves before presenting them to the President.
The students tied rakhis on the hands of the President of India. The President also presented the students with rakhis.
After the ceremony, officials of Rashtrapati Bhavan accompanied the students on a tour of the sprawling building. Their knowledge about the history and significance of the Rashtrapati Bhavan were enriched as the officials narrated the historical background during the tour. The students got the opportunity to visit the rooms and conference halls which otherwise host high-profile dignitaries such as the Prime Minister, Cabinet ministers and foreign delegates. The students also toured the surroundings of the building and gardens.
