Freedom Fighters' sacrifices is our eternal inspiration: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister

Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Saturday led Independence Day celebrations at Bishramganj School grounds, paying homage to the national flag and saluting the memory of martyrs of India’s freedom struggle. 

In his address, the Minister declared that the courage, patriotism and duty-bound ideals of those who laid down their lives for the nation remain a timeless source of inspiration.

Debbarma urged citizens to honour their sacrifice by working for the welfare of the country and its people. “On the 80th Independence Day, let us move forward together, inspired by national unity and patriotism, to build a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India,” he said.

The morning programme began with the hoisting of the tricolour at the Minister’s official residence in Agartala, where Tripura State Rifles and police personnel joined the solemn ceremony. 

The gathering remembered the countless sacrifices behind India’s independence and pledged to uphold sovereignty, integrity and democratic values.

The atmosphere was festive yet reverent, with flag-hoisting followed by greetings exchanged between the Minister and security personnel. Debbarma personally distributed sweets among TSR and police staff, adding a touch of warmth to the formal proceedings.

Extending greetings to the people of Tripura and the nation, the Minister reminded that Independence is not merely a celebration but a legacy of struggle and sacrifice. 

He called upon citizens to carry forward that legacy by strengthening peace, unity and harmony while contributing to the development of both state and country.

The day’s events reflected pride in the national flag and a collective resolve to safeguard its dignity. From the ceremonial hoisting to the sharing of sweets, every gesture carried the spirit of respect, gratitude and patriotism that defines Independence Day.
