Future Agripreneurs from Tripura meet Telangana Guv Jishnu Dev Varma

A delegation of 33 sixth-semester B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture students from the College of Agriculture, Tripura met with Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana and former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura during their educational tour across key agricultural hubs in India.

The meeting took place in Hyderabad, the final leg of their tour, which included visits to prestigious agricultural institutions in West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, and Telangana. The students were accompanied by faculty members Dr. Saurav Das and Dr. Durga Prasad Awasthi, who guided them through the academic and cultural experiences of the journey.

During the interaction, the Governor engaged the students in a thoughtful dialogue about their academic pursuits, institutional achievements, and future ambitions in the field of agriculture. He expressed appreciation for their dedication and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to India's agricultural innovation and sustainability.

The College of Agriculture, Tripura, accredited by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), has been a cornerstone of agricultural education in the region. Since its inception in 2007, the college has offered undergraduate programs and has recently expanded to include postgraduate degrees, nurturing a new generation of agri-scientists and entrepreneurs.

This educational tour not only provided students with exposure to diverse agro-climatic zones and research facilities but also offered a rare opportunity to engage with policymakers and leaders who shape the future of Indian agriculture.

Also, the visit to the Governor’s residence was a highlight of the tour, leaving students inspired and reaffirming the importance of academic excellence, field exposure, and civic engagement in shaping the future of agriculture.
