
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said that his government is empowering youth from all sections, including Janajati communities, through comprehensive skill development programmes.
He said this after inaugurating the State-level Toolkits Distribution Ceremony for skilled Bru candidates held at Chailengta Bazar Playground in Dhalai district.
In the event, he also virtually inaugurated key infrastructure projects including new building of Chawmanu Class-XII School (Vidyajyoti), new building of Chawmanu Fire Station, new building of the Executive Engineer’s Office, R.D. Department, Manu and construction of Way Side Amenity at Manu, Dhalai.
According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives reflect the commitment of the government for  education, safety, rural development, and youth empowerment, paving the way for a stronger and Viksit Tripura.
Later he interacted with the Bru (Reang) children at the Hambhaipara Bru Settlement Colony in Dhalai district. Dr. Saha said, he was touched by the resilience and radiant smiles of the children.
“Interacting with these young souls, listening to their stories, and witnessing their dreams for a better tomorrow has been a truly heartwarming and humbling experience. Our government remains firmly committed to upholding their rights, ensuring their dignity, and creating greater opportunities for their holistic growth and empowerment,” he mentioned in a social media post.
Meanwhile, addressing the main event, the Chief Minister said,Â
Dr. Saha said that for the past 23 years, not a single political party had taken steps to solve the issues of the Bru people.Â
“But after 2018, when the BJP formed the government, the issues were solved on humanitarian grounds. The government is working to make people self-reliant. We want their economic, social development and employment generation. When the accord was signed for the Bru Reangs, a series of talks were held, and in 12 locations, resettlement was provided to them.  We have provided toolkits to 895 and driving licences to 200, for which Rs 1.45 crore was spent,” said Dr. Saha.
During the event, Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, MLA Sambhu Lal Chakma, Secretary Kiran Gitte, Dhalai District Magistrate Vivek HB, Director of Skill Development Department Pradeep K., and other officials were present.
