Govt to reach people, not vice-versa: Dy CM

Khowai Oct 26: Government will reach people but not vice versa, commented Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma while laying the foundation stone of Khowai District Panchayat Resource Centre at Dhalabil under Khowai on Wednesday. The Resource Centre will be constructed by the Rural Development Department at the estimated cost of Rs 2 crore.
The Deputy Chief Minister also attended the Prati Ghare Sushan programme to make the last-mile delivery of government schemes. As part of the programme, he distributed loans under Kisan Credit Card Scheme, Power Tillers to farmers and financial assistance to several SHG members today.
Speaking on the occasion, Dev Varma said, the State government working for the growth and progress of rural areas as the government believes that the development of rural areas will make the urban areas develop. In this connection, he said the government is working to ensure the last-mile delivery of government schemes so that the common person does need not to run after the government to avail of the schemes.
Dev Varma also explained the purpose of conducting Prati Ghare Sushan Mela in every district, block and village so that people become aware of available government schemes. He also pointed out that the incumbent government never consider the political affiliation of beneficiaries as hunger has no political colour.
Among others, Chief Whip of the Assembly Kalyani Roy, MLAs Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Nirmal Biswas and Prashanta Debbarma and others. In today’s Sushan Mela, several departments opened stalled and helped people in availing of the schemes.
