Govt working to build self-reliant, developed Tripura: CM

The Tripura government is continuously working towards building a self-reliant and developed state, with special emphasis on employment generation and women’s empowerment, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Sunday.

The Chief Minister made the statement after handing over offer letters to 16 newly recruited drivers of the Fire and Emergency Services Department at an event held at Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala.

Dr. Saha said, the government has undertaken several initiatives aimed at creating employment opportunities, developing skills, empowering women and ensuring faster and more effective delivery of services to the people.

Congratulating the newly appointed drivers, the Chief Minister said joining government service was not merely an employment opportunity but also a great responsibility to serve the people with honesty, dedication and perseverance.

He extended his best wishes to all the newly recruited employees as they begin a new chapter in their professional lives.

The event also featured initiatives aimed at promoting women’s self-reliance and financial empowerment. 

The Chief Minister distributed sewing machines and a stipend of Rs. 2,000 each to 180 trained women beneficiaries under the Agartala Municipal Corporation.

The Chief Minister said, the initiative would play an important role in helping women become self-reliant and financially empowered. 

He expressed hope that the programme would create income-generation opportunities by enabling women to utilise their skills and contribute to improving their socio-economic conditions.

From the same programme, the Chief Minister virtually inaugurated the newly constructed fire station at Manubankul in Sabroom. It is the 52nd fire station in Tripura. Dr. Saha expressed hope that the new facility would fulfil a long-standing demand of the people of Sabroom and adjoining areas and strengthen fire and emergency services in the region.

Minister Santana Chakma, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumder, Secretary Kiran Gitte, senior officials and other dignitaries were present at the programme.

Prior to the event, the Chief Minister, along with others, listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ at Muktadhara Auditorium.

Dr. Saha said ‘Mann Ki Baat’ serves as an important platform for the Prime Minister to directly connect and exchange ideas with the people of the country. Through the programme, stories of achievements, innovative initiatives and social activities undertaken by people from different parts of India are brought before the nation, while also inspiring citizens to take up positive initiatives.

The programme also highlighted the important role of party workers in taking various public-oriented government schemes and development initiatives to the people.
