
Orissa High Court today granted conditional bail to IAS officer Dhiman Chakma, who was caught by Vigilance Police while taking bribe of Rs 10 lakh during his tenure as Sub-Collector , Dharamgarh ,Kalahandi district. The HC approved the bail on the condition of two sureties of Rs 5 lakh. Chakma approached the Orissa HC seeking bail after the Vigilance Court , Bhawanipatna rejected his earlier plea. Currently under in Jail , Chakma is facing serious graft allegations linked to a high profile bribery case. Chakma was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh, the first installment of his demand of Rs 20 lakh from a crusher unit owner on June 8, 2025. The Vigilance sleuth later raided his official residence and reportedly seized cash of Rs 47,47,600 cash of different denominations. Chakma , a 2021 batch IAS officer , from the native of Tripura was posted in the tribal- dominated Kalahandi district before his arrest. The case has sparked widespread discussion in the entire country around bureaucratic accountability and Odisha's ongoing anti-corruption drive .
 The Odisha government has suspended him from the service and his services has been placed to General Administration (GA) department , Bhubaneswar.
