Agartala Jan 25: Residence of Tapan Sarkar, BJP worker from Booth No 69 of Charipara areas’ Ward No 47 under Badharghat assembly constituency was set ablaze on early morning hours of Wednesday.
In the run-up to Tripura assembly polls, Tripura Police along with Central Forces have been carrying out intensive patrolling in all the areas across the state.
Even after that, sporadic incidents of violence are reported almost every day despite stern actions by election commission.
According to details briefed by Tapan Sarkar, “At around 3.30-4.00am on Wednesday morning, the family members woke up and to their dismay saw huge flames that reduced their house into ashes”.
“Rs 50,000 cash withdrawn from bank under PMAY Scheme also reduced to ashes in the fire”, he added.
However, the family members managed to save themselves from any injury.
Receiving the information, Badharghat MLA Mimi Majumder hurried to spot.
Acknowledged of the entire incident, Mimi Majumder strongly condemned the incident while raising the arrow of allegations towards the opposition CPI-M.
“Being aware of lost support from the common people and just for coming to power by hook or crook, CPIM-Congress hoodlums are conducting such incidents of violence”, she said.
Majumder further added, “Tapan Sarkar and his family were long time CPIM supporters but recently joined the BJP and were working for the party”.
“The incident is a clear outcome of political violence”, said Mimi.
Adding to lend possible support to the affected family Mimi demanded the police administration to take stern action against the miscreants.
