Agartala Jan 12: East Agartala Police personnel recovered large number of addictive cough syrup (Phenesedyl) from a shop in Maharajganj market on late Wednesday night.

Briefing the reporters on the drive, SDPO Ajay Kumar Das said, “Police saw suspicious person standing in front of Maharajganj Bazar fish market during police patrol at around 1.30 am on Wednesday night”.

Based on suspicion the owner of the shop was called over phone but as he did not answer the call, police broke the lock and went inside.

Search of the shop recovered narcotic phenesedyl cartoons, said the police official.

He added, the market value of the recovered drugs is around Rs 6 lakhs.

Ajit Das (36) son of Himanshu Das, resident of East Pratapgarh area was arrested in connection with the recovery of drugs.
