IM Arshiya felicitated by Holy Cross School

Arshiya Das, the only woman International Master from Northeast India, was felicitated by her school on Tuesday. The golden girl was honored at her alma mater, Holy Cross School, in the presence of students and teachers.

Principal Father Gilson presented a beautifully crafted memento to Arshiya. Assistant Principal Father Renzo and other teachers of the school were also present on the occasion.

In 2025, Arshiya earned her first International Master norm in the United Arab Emirates. Last month, she won the 42nd Rudar International Master Round Robin held in Serbia. With that victory, she achieved the distinction of becoming the first International Master from the Northeast. At the same event, Arshiya also secured a Grandmaster norm.

The talented player will appear for her Madhyamik examination next year. At this moment, the school is celebrating her as a symbol of determination and pride for Tripura and the entire Northeast. The school authorities expressed their wish that Arshiya continues to achieve greater success in the coming days.

In front of hundreds of students, Arshiya was honored with a traditional Risha draped around her shoulders, along with a memento presented by the school. The Matrix Academy chess player became emotional after receiving such a grand felicitation on the morning of her birthday.

She remains determined to fulfill her cherished dream within the next few months. Notably, Arshiya aspires to become a Grandmaster. Meanwhile, the State Chess Association has also decided to felicitate her through a grand event. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the association’s office on Monday night. The felicitation program is likely to be organized later this month.
