IMD predicts heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tripura for three days

The India Meteorological Department, Agartala Centre has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Tripura over the next three days.
In view of the weather updates, the IMD has also issued Orange and Yellow alerts for districts from June 16 to 18.

According to a press release, a cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood between 3.1 & 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting Southwestwards with height. Another cyclonic circulation over Central Assam & neighbourhood seen at 4.5 km above mean sea level. 

"Due to the strong Southerly and South-westerly wind, moisture incursion is very likely to occur over Tripura. Therefore, Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall and Thunderstorm with lightning accompanied with gusty wind is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Districts of Tripura during 16th June to 18th June, 2025," the IMD press release said.

On June 16, Heavy to very Heavy Rainfall (7-20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over Sepahijala & South Districts of Tripura (Orange alert). Heavy Rainfall (7-11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over rest Districts of Tripura. Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty Wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Districts of Tripura (Yellow alert). The prediction is valid from 0830 hrs IST 16.06.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 17.06.2025.

On June 17, Heavy to very Heavy Rainfall (7-20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over West, Sepahijala, Gomati & South Districts of Tripura (orange alert). Heavy Rainfall (7-11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over rest Districts of Tripura. Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty Wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Districts of Tripura (Yellow alert- Valid from 0830 hrs IST 17.06.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 18.06.2025).

On June 18, Heavy to very Heavy Rainfall (7-20cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over West, Sepahijala, Gomati & South Districts of Tripura (orange alert). Heavy Rainfall (7-11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over rest Districts of Tripura. Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty Wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the Districts of Tripura (Yellow alert- Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 18.06.2025 to 0830 hrs IST of 19.06.2025).
