Implementation of NIPUN, foundational learning initiatives in government schools reviewed

The Tripura government on Saturday held a high-level review meeting to assess the implementation of NIPUN Tripura and other school education initiatives, with discussions focusing on strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN), pre-primary education and academic support for slow-learning students.

The meeting was chaired by School Education Secretary Dr Milind Dharmrao Ramteke and attended by Director of School Education Dr Samit Roy Choudhury, SCERT Director L Darlong, senior officials of the Directorate of School Education and SCERT, District Magistrates of all eight districts, District Education Officers and other senior officials.

According to officials, the meeting reviewed the implementation of NIPUN Tripura, pre-primary education, co-location of Balvatika, Building as Learning Aid (BaLA), student assessment, school inspection and monitoring mechanisms.

The participants also discussed measures for the identification, adoption and academic support of slow-learning students to improve learning outcomes in government schools.

Officials said the deliberations emphasised strengthening foundational literacy and numeracy through targeted interventions, continuous monitoring and improved classroom practices.

The meeting also stressed the need for coordinated efforts by district administrations and the education department to ensure the effective implementation of school education programmes across the state.
