Agartala, Apr 3: In its determined effort to combat the Climate Change issue, India is committed to cut its carbon emissions to net zero by 2070.
To fulfil the commitment, the Indian Government already launched Hydrogen Mission as ‘green’ hydrogen which is fast emerging as future clean energy, said Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Ajay Sood while briefing the media on the first-day proceedings of S20 in Agartala on Monday.
“Government launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an outlay of over Rs 18,000 crore. The objective of the Mission is to address the climate issue with the production of green hydrogen”, Sood commented and opined bio-mass will be the main route for producing hydrogen.
On achieving net zero carbon emission, he said the Government of India is committed to meeting the challenges that come towards that direction.
The Chair of Science-20 Ashutosh Sharma addressed the media and said that "major theme of G-20 is one earth One Family and one future and this is very true for our climate changes. All the challenges with regard to Climate are global Challenges and that is where the importance of the G-20 lies.
Through G-20 all can work together as a global force to address the challenges faced due to climate change.
He also added that “clean energy is very important for sustainable future and development and that is why we need clean energy for greener future. It was also the theme of discussion on the 1st day of the Science-20 meeting in Agartala.”
Sharma informed the people of the State through media, delegates are extremely happy with the arrangements at the Summit and local products like handloom and handicrafts. He also said delegates will cherish the memories of their stay in Agartala for a long time.
Secretary of Industries and Commerce Department, Abhishek Chandra asserted that owing to concerted efforts, mankind is not far away from green hydrogen – “We are just 7-8 years away”, he commented based on the discussions held by the experts in Summit.
