Agartala, May 02: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said eight investors from various places have signed MoU with the state government for investment of over Rs. 312 crore.
Dr. Saha, who attended a roundtable meet on ‘Investiable Opportunities’ at Prajna Bhavan, Agartala, in a press conference congratulated the investors for showing their interests in investment in Tripura. He said, around 141 investors participated in the summit.
“In this investors’ meet, around 141 investors have participated and among them, eight investors have signed an MoU of Rs 312.38 crores,” Dr. Saha told reporters.
Dayton Natural Resources Private Limited has signed the MoU to invest Rs 247 crore for setting up another medical college in Dhalai district under Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
Addressing the summit, the Chief Minister has said that the state government has decided to provide State Capital Investment Subsidy, Industrial Promotion Subsidy, power subsidy, employment cost subsidy, state transport subsidy and etc to the investors.
He also hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special efforts for ensuring the HIRA model in developing Tripura.
Addressing the investors, Dr. Saha said, the Maitri Setu in Sabroom would become operational very soon and the investors would be benefitted as Tripura would be the gateway to South East Asia.
“Through Maitri Setu, we will have easy access to Mongla Port, Chittagong Port, and Matarbari Port and the investors will get the facilities,” he said.
Tripura has made significant progress in strengthening connectivity over the past few years, with seven national highways, strong railway network and development in air service, he said.
“Our efforts have opened doors to investors for the bright future of Tripura's infrastructure, particularly in sectors such as bamboo waste, activated charcoal, rubber, food processing, cold chain, healthcare, hospitality, and tourism,” Dr. Saha said while addressing the summit.
Meanwhile, some of the investors expressed their experience in Tripura and lauded the role of the state government for investment-friendly policy.
The Department of Industries and Commerce organized the roundtable meet where Minister for Industries and Commerce Santana Chakma, Secretary of DoNER Lok Ranjan, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Special Secretary Abhishek Chandra and TIDC chairman Nabadal Banik were present.
The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) in association with Invest India and FICCI is organizing a North East Global Investors Summit, 2023 with the aim of boosting investment and generating employment in the north eastern region.
As a precursor to the proposed Summit, such roundtable meetings being held in NE states to sensitise the prospective investors, highlight the potential investible projects, create awareness about the Government schemes and policies and gather inputs from the stakeholders.
In the meeting, prospective investors interacted with important stakeholders like Central and State Government officials, PUs, Banks, and others. Investment opportunities in sectors like Agriculture, Horticulture, Tourism, Handloom, Food Processing, Rubber, Tea, Bamboo, Information Technology, Higher Education, Health, and Forest based products like Agar were presented.
