Agartala, Feb 12: With barely a few days left for the assembly polls, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who addressed two massive poll rallies and held one road show in Tripura on Sunday, termed Congress, Left parties and Tipra Motha as ‘Triple Apad’.
Addressing the first election rally at Chandipur in Unakoti district in presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other leaders, he said, this time, the poll battle is between double engine versus Triple Apad.
Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister had a delicious Manipuri cuisine for lunch at the home of BJP Karyakarta Ajit Sinha at Chandipur.
Speaking in the rally, he said the opposition parties want to bring back ‘jungle raj’ while the state is making progress under BJP rule.
Vote in favour of Congress, Motha or CPM will facilitate return of communist rule,” Shah said while addressing the other public rally at Bishramganj in Sepahijala district.
Launching a scathing attack on the Left-Congress alliance, he said, the Left party already admitted defeat before contesting the polls.
He also highlighted some of the major promises of the BJP’s poll manifesto including scooty for college-going girl students and hike in farmer’s benefit from Rs.6000 to Rs.8000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
"By 2025, every eligible family would get a house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and 50,000 college girls will get Scooties, Rs. 200 crore would be invested in the tea and rubber industries, farmers would get Rs 8000 annually and every tea worker's family would be allotted two Ganda (1,728 sq.ft.) land," he added.
Both the election rallies drew huge gatherings; the participation of Janajati people was noticeable.
Shah claimed there are so many corruption cases in Left and Congress regimes in various sectors and added that there is not a single case of corruption in the five-year rule of BJP in Tripura.
"Drug peddling and its extreme menace were at the peak of the Left regime and the BJP, after coming to power in 2018 launched a war against drugs to make Tripura a drugs drug-free state," he said.
Promising two gas cylinders to every poor household, he said that the saffron party-led government has already provided piped water connections, electricity and provided concrete houses to lakhs of families and these welfare activities would be stepped up after the BJP retained power for the second time.
"Modiji has restored peace in Tripura by signing an agreement with the NLFT (National Liberation Front of Tripura) militant outfit. Providing settlement to the 37,000 displaced Reang tribals, the 26 years old uncertainty of these tribal communities was resolved," Shah said.
The high-voltage election campaign will come to an end on February 14, two days before the polling. The election will be held on February 16 and the poll results will be declared on March 2 next.
