Jiten writes to CEO; demands removal of campaign materials from public properties

Agartala Jan 18: CPI-M State Secretary Jiten Choudhury on Wednesday addressed a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura demanding immediate removal of campaign materials from public properties.
The demand from the CPI-M State secretary came after Election Commission of India on Wednesday announced the date for Tripura Assembly Elections to be held on February 16 next following which the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in the state.
Pressing for fair and peaceful elections, Jiten Choudhury in his letter wrote, “Now that the Election Commission of India has declared the schedule of Tripura Assembly Election to be held on 16th February, 2023 and the Model Code of conduct has instantly come into force in the state, for fairness of election, it is imperative that the Election Authority ensure the following measures as early as possible”.
The three major demands raised by Choudhury includes; removal of all campaign materials including the images of various ministers, political leaders displayed in public properties like government walls, electric posts, posts in road dividers and in various government offices, removal of the images of the Ministers from the government websites.
Choudhury further demanded the CEO to ensure that display of government achievements through the digital display boards set up in various parts of capital city be shut down at the earliest.
